Galloway-Chandler-McKinney Insurance, Inc. (GCM) was founded in January 1994 through the merger of Galloway-Wiggers Insurance Agency and Kyle Chandler Insurance Agency. The agency has roots dating back to 1920. Together, these agencies have more than 85 years of experience in the field of insurance with offices in Columbus, West Point, Aberdeen, Amory and Starkville. The agency has 8 producers designated as Certified Insurance Counselors, a Registered Health Underwriter and a Chartered Life Underwriter.
GCM is consistently ranked in the 10 largest insurance agencies in Mississippi. They pride themselves on being local agents who value honesty, integrity and a high level of professional service.
As insurance service providers, GCM wanted to find ways to manage healthcare costs while combining wellness prevention. They were in search of a wellness partnership that could provide support and valid resources for exercise and nutrition in a way that could accommodate several locations. This brought them to partner with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi in becoming a Healthy Workplace in 2013.
GCM saw the need to support employees in adopting healthy lifestyle habits and ultimately manage healthcare costs. In 2013, GCM partnered with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi to become a Healthy Workplace. Each year, employees take a personal Health Risk Assessment (HRA) to identify health risks or concerns along with onsite health screenings to determine specific needs and interests of employees. Since then, GCM employees have taken part in nutrition education programs, grocery store tours and individualized nutrition counseling with registered dietitians. They have also held benefit management programs, stress management activities, weight management programs and exercise activities that included Let’s Go Walkin’ Mississippi. With the help of these activities, the group has seen a decrease in employees with diabetes risk and elevated cholesterol levels. The Healthy Workplace initiative with GCM is supported by management at all levels and has led to a high level of employee engagement.
With the introduction of their worksite wellness opportunities, GCM has seen an increase in HRA participation, biometric data and engagement in worksite activities. Below depicts success compared from Year 1 of Healthy Workplace (2013), as compared to results in 2015. This data is based on their onsite health screenings and self reported HRA data. Healthy You! Utilization has also increased since the introduction of our partnership. See the comparison of the year before they signed the Healthy Workplace Letter of Understanding, vs. 2015.
