Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi (BCBSMS) is committed to protecting our Members' personal health information.

That's why we are implementing 2-Factor Authentication (2FA). 2FA adds an additional layer of security to your myBlue account and further decreases the likelihood of an attacker gaining access to your personal information. It requires you to provide something you know (username and password) as well as something you have (a secure code sent to you via email, text or phone). This will help to continue to ensure your most personal information stays safe and secure.

To prepare, make sure your email and cell phone number are up-to-date in your myBlue account so you don't run into delays or issues later!

Here's what to expect.

If you use fingerprint or facial recognition on your myBlue mobile app, this is considered 2FA and you will not notice any changes! If not, or logging in from a desktop, upon logging in to your myBlue account, you will see a message like this:

After receiving your code via your preferred method, you will enter and submit your verification code. Successful verification takes you to your myBlue experience. You can also opt to save your personal device for future authentication in order to bypass 2FA for the next 90-days.

Virtual ID Cards and Virtual EOBs

With our personal, secure tools, now is a great time to support a digital business environment to meet evolving every day needs of Mississippians - myBlue is the place where you go to access your Virtual ID card and share it with your healthcare team. For added convenience, we’re expanding our virtual Explanation of Benefits (EOB) starting in January 2022! myBlue is the place you go to access your Virtual EOB. Not only will the Virtual EOB provide timely and accurate delivery of important health information, the Virtual EOB can be accessed through myBlue on the desktop and our myBlue app.

To add your Member ID card to Apple Wallet:

  • Open the myBlue App on your device and then log in (credentials are the same as your myBlue Member portal)

  • Select view ID card

  • Tap “add to Apple Wallet”

You can share your Member ID with family members by:

  • Opening your Member ID card in your Apple Wallet

  • Clicking on the circle with three dots in the upper right-hand corner

  • Choosing “share,” and selecting the recipient and the way they’ll receive it (text, email, air drop, etc.)

To help protect your privacy and health information, make sure to only share your Member ID with family members you trust, or your health care providers.

Be on the lookout for an exciting update we have coming out that transforms myBlue to give Members more insight into their health on-the-go. You will be able to view your health numbers and individual risks for blood pressure, weight, blood sugar and cholesterol at-a-glance. These are the critical health numbers are important to overall health and wellness. You will also be able to dive deeper into each number to see additional details to optimize your goals.
